What color is economics?
This is a weird question, but it’s based on an astronomy question I saw last week. What color is the sun? If you’re in Utah, it’s orange thanks to the smoke from the California fires. But on a clear day, what color is it? I wrote an essay on how that question relates to economics education.
My first community video!
So many of you reach out to me to let me know about the cool things you find related to economics. I’ve decided I want to compile those into regular videos that I can share with the whole community. This video includes Forky from Toy Story 4, McDonald’s, bitcoin, and a tennis ball. Quite the mix!
If you want to contribute to a future video, you can reply to this newsletter any week, or you can tag me on twitter.

New economics podcast
There is a new economics podcast targeted at intro economics students. It’s called Think Like an Economist and it’s hosted by Betsey Stevenson and Justin Wolfers. Here’s who they say should listen:
Who’s our podcast for? You may not be an economist, but perhaps you’re econ-curious. Or econ-adjacent. Or sitting through an econ class and need help finding the intuition. Or teaching econ and wanna fire your students up. We love our field, and we want to make it accessible.
