Does your money have COCAINE on it?
One of the most common critiques of cryptocurrencies is that they will be used to facilitate illegal activity, such as drug deals. If you mention this to a crypto enthusiast, I can almost guarantee how they will respond. I wanted to test that response.
Testing Money for Cocaine
In this week’s video I tested dollar bills for traces of cocaine. Previous research has shown that over 90% of dollar bills are contaminated with traces of cocaine. That’s why crypto supporters will push back against the critique the crypto will be used for drug deals. Most drug deals are done in dollars!
But I wanted to test it myself! I got cocaine detection wipes and tried bills from all over the U.S. And my experiment surprised me.
Clayton Christensen’s Passing
The weekend brought sad news about the death of Kobe Bryant, his daughter, and the other helicopter passengers. But a few days earlier there was a death that affected me more. Clayton Christensen, a professor at Harvard Business School, passed away after a long fight with cancer.
Christensen profoundly influenced my life and was a fantastic role model of the intersection of scholarship and faith. You probably know his book How Will You Measure Your Life? Or maybe you read The Power of Everyday Missionaries. One of my first videos was about his most recent book, which looks at how to use his business theories to help developing countries. He was a major academic force, but that did not stop him from dedicating a page on his website to explain his beliefs.
If you’re interested in learning more about Christensen’s business theories, I recommend listening to this podcast where he explains Jobs To Be Done.
